FINAL DESTINATION: A DEAL WITH DEATHAn Exorcist ProductionTHE PREMISE Based on the hit movie franchise
Final Destination, our serialized anthology series will kickstart with a fast-paced, high-stakes debut season that explores the curse of death that has befallen certain family members of all those who had premonitions from the movies: Alex Browning, Kimberly Corman, Wendy Christensen, Nick O'Bannon and Sam Lawton.
The number 180 has always been a recurring, ominous presence in the Final Destination series, usually marking death to be imminent. We want to make it an important part of the series, thus having Season 1 take place over 180 years.
Season 1 will consist of seven 43-minute episodes (60-minute episodes including ads).
THE EPISODESEpisode #1: ‘Gone With The Wind’Our show begins with tragedy. We see the Great Natchez Tornado take place on May 7, 1840, resulting in over 300 casualties, before this scene is revealed to be a vision of Gretta Browning. Though the characters battle to save those they love, they cannot get to everyone and thus many perish in this horrible natural disaster by the end of the episode.
Episode #2: ‘Reduced to Ashes’The eruption of Mount Pelée on April 23, 1902 will be the focus of our second episode, after it resulted in over 30,000 casualties. Here, we will learn a little more about the ancestors of the descendants we will meet in our final two episodes, with a primary focus on David Corman - the man who has the vision of the volcano erupting but, is confined to an asylum after voicing his concerns. We see him struggling to escape the straitjacket applied to him as the episode ends, he manages to escape, but he only manages to save a few people while so many loved ones perish in the devastation caused by the eruption.
Episode #3: ‘Sinking Ship’The sinking of the Titanic on April 15th, 1912 resulted in over 1,500 casualties and, is one of the most historic tragedies in the world. This will be our big budget episode, where everything will be thrown in to ensure the audience keeps coming back for more. Elaina Christensen will be getting the vision and face a race against time to get as many people to safety as possible.
Episode #4: ‘When it Rains, it Pours’In October 1944, the San Lucas Hurricane claimed 318 lives. Michelle O'Bannon actually manages to survive the hurricane after their vision in this episode and it actually appears to the viewer that she may make it, but we see the episode then end with death catching up to her - she is trampled to death by a group of horses, whose eyes are all jet black.
Episode #5: ‘Ready For Takeoff’The Tenerife Airport Disaster resulted in 583 casualties in 1977, after two Boeing 747 passenger jets collided on the runway at Los Rodeos Airport. Bryce Lawton, who works at the airport, is sent home for the day after seeing the tragedy in a vision, but refuses to leave and does all they can to ensure the planes never take off. Unfortunately they are unsuccessful in their attempts, and we see them take their own life at the end of the episode, jumping from one of the disconnected tunnels which are used to connect airports to airplanes. It is later revealed that their vision did save many who opted to listen and not board the forsaken plane.
Episode #6: ‘Breathe In’The COVID-19 pandemic is something we could all do with forgetting, but unfortunately, it’s something we all now have to live with. As we move into the modern day and are introduced to the descendants of those ancestors we have watched in the five episodes before, we see them have a vision of this pandemic, but no one listens, so we see each of them deal with grief after losing family members to the coronavirus. One morning, they each receive a black letter via the postal service, inviting them to a private dinner party in memory of their loved ones.
Episode #7: ‘Dealing With Death’Our big finale. Here, our descendants all meet one another for the first time and discover that they are all linked through their ancestry. Death - who is never embodied as an actual person or being, but instead is simply a presence - has invited them to make a deal. Over 180 years, their ancestors have been messing with death and its plan, too many have survived because of it. If they can all agree on sacrificing just one of themselves, they can stop the family curse.
